Wat ga je doen?

Working as a Senior Backend developer for AH technology means that you help us build state-of-the-art applications for our Finance department. We are currently in the midst of a transformation where all processes and systems are moving towards newer technologies. We are looking for a developer with an entrepreneurial mindset who can drive this change with us! 

Your new job
As a backend developer, you become part of the DevOps Finance Record-to-report team that is responsible for the maintenance and operations of multiple systems. The team has great ambitions to move from a more older tech stack (Oracle 12c Forms 😉) to a modern software product. You can be a driving force in implementing this change. An important application you will be working on is the Financial Document Management Service, a set of Kotlin-based microservices that expose financial documents to our franchisees. 

As a senior with lead experience, you will participate in creating the technical design, provide technical leadership, mentoring the team along with sharing your experience. You will also be responsible with the other developers to maintain the existing (legacy) systems. You are expected to spend a majority of your time on hands-on delivery as well as code reviews. You are expected to ensure technical quality as well as speed of delivery of the team in our Agile Scrum cadence. In this role, you are also expected to work closely with Engineering Manager, Product Manager, Architects, and other stakeholders. Please note that Dutch is not mandatory for executing the role.   Our teams work in a hybrid way: both from home as in the office. Our team goes to the office in Zaandam once or twice a week. We are located near the train station and offer a NS-train card.  

Our team
The finance tech teams work in close cooperation with both the Albert Heijn business finance department and external parties that perform administrative operations on behalf of Albert Heijn. The record-to-report team focuses on applications around financial reporting. The team consists of backend developers with a strong background in the legacy systems (Oracle PLSQL and Forms/Reports) and developers specialized in services, messaging, backend services (kotlin) and frontend services (React). 

This is how you will reinvent food retail. 

  • Help rebuild our traditional tech landscape and create new applications in a modern innovative tech foundation (high code front-end) to scale our ever-growing core business.   
  • Build code, implement, and execute automated testing, ensure security, code quality, and contribute to best practices and deployment.  
  • Be a valued team member, that contributes and removes obstacles.  
  • Integrate and expand our price management capacity.

  • Has lead but also hands-on experience in the full software lifecycle development. 
  • Expertise on relevant technology stack - Springboot, Java/Kotlin, Github Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins, Kubernetes/Azure.
  • Kubernetes Service (AKS), Mongo DB/Postgress DB (or any noSQL DB), event streaming and messaging platform (Kafka), Azure/AWS/GCP PaaS with critical eye on non-functional requirements such as scalability, maintainability and security  
  • Knowledge of GraphQL is a plus.
  • Has experience driving the technical landscape, solution design, implementation, operations, business alignments, prioritization, along with the team.  
  • Has experience working as a lead developer .
  • Has good interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate people.
  • Already located in The Netherlands.
  • Familiar with Scrum/Agile methodology
  • An outstanding command of the English language.
  • 24/7 responsible for the application development & Ops including the possibility of standby schedule.
