Octagon Professionals is seeking several professionals to provide service support to Quality Managers across various Directorates at the European Space Agency (ESA), based at ESTEC, Netherlands. The Quality Management and Assurance Section (TEC-QPQ) at ESTEC is a corporate quality management function operating under the authority of the Directorate of Technology, Engineering & Quality (D/TEC) and the ESA Quality Manager.

The main duties of personnel assigned to TEC-QPQ include supporting Quality Managers with a range of quality management (QM) activities, such as preparation for management reviews, audit planning and execution, liaising with ESA process owners, supporting process definition, developing and maintaining management system portals, preparing and conducting awareness sessions, internal communication and training, monitoring action items and audit findings, tracking supplier performance and customer satisfaction, and contributing to ESA-wide improvement initiatives. The assurance-related responsibilities focus on supporting operational quality, particularly in laboratories, the test centre, and building/facility management.

Personnel are required for three work packages. For the second of these packages (WP2), we are recruiting a Quality Systems and Audit Engineer - Laboratories & Test Centre . The personnel selected shall constitute a team from which a Service Manager and Deputy will be appointed. The Service Manager and Deputy should have a minimum Master's level degree and possess a sound and proven experience in team management.

WP2 - PAE17-02: ESTEC Test Centre & TEC Laboratories Quality Support Service

Work with ESA TEC-F Test Centre and Laboratories to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, EN 9100, and ECSS-Q-ST-20-07C standards. This role emphasises quality and safety in laboratory/test environments and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain QMS compliance in Test Centre and Labs with ISO 9001, EN 9100, ECSS.
• Plan and implement QA and safety activities in laboratories and test centres.
• Support Management Reviews, audits, and staff training.
• Organise and analyse non-conformances, risk, and dependability assessments.
• Monitor competence databases, calibration registers, and lab portals.
• Assess and improve test methods, facilities, and procedures.

Profile:

• Experience in QA within space/laboratory/test environments.
• IRCA-certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, EN 9100, or ECSS.
• Familiarity with non-conformance management and test facility safety.
• Excellent risk analysis, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
